Sweeny Parks and Recreational Board meets the first Monday of the month at 5:30 P.M. at the Chamber/EDC Board Room, located at 111 W 3rd Street. Board Members are listed below.

Sweeny has a number of parks and recreational outdoor activities to enjoy.  
Parks


Recreation

  • Splash Pad (Open Monday after Pride Day and closes first weekend in October)
  • Disc Golf at Backyard Park- Equipment can be checked out at City Hall during Normal Business Hours by an individual that is at least 18 years old and has a valid ID
  • Volleyball Court at Backyard Park- Volleyball Net can be checked out at City Hall during Normal Business Hours by an individual that is at least 18 years old and has a valid ID
  • Senior Building (senior citizens lunch, games, fellowship)

  • Backyard Park Walking Trail
  • TJT Memorial Walking Trail (MLK Park)
  • Bike Trail (TxDOT)

Memorials

  • Veterans’ Memorial
  • Carver Alumni School Memorial
  • Lady Civic (Civic Club donation, after 100 years of service to Sweeny disbanded, purchased Lady Civic as last act for the City).

RULES:
Non-Profit Usage of City Parks/City Hall Parking Area for selling of goods/merchandise in which proceeds are donated or used for the non-profit group, please use the form below and submit to City Hall.
Non-Profit Usage Application

Please enjoy our parks by obeying and respecting our posted rules.  This ensures all visitors can enjoy the parks equally.  The following rules apply at all city parks:

  1. Parks are closed daily from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
  2. Unlawful firearms are not permitted.
  3. Do not use equipment improperly.
  4. No bare feet; use proper footwear.
  5. Adult supervision is requested.
  6. No alcoholic beverages.
  7. No glass containers.
  8. No disturbing the peace.  No loud music.  No Profanity.
  9. All pets must be on a leash.  Please clean up after your pet.
  10. The city is not responsible for accidents.

Under City Ordinance (Section 95.03 & 95.15), violators may be prosecuted for violations of these rules.
