EDC

The Sweeny Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) promotes the economic growth of the area and helps small towns compete with large communities/cities.  It helps attract businesses while boosting small economies.  The SEDC is funded by local sales tax.  The SEDC was established by City Council on December 1, 1997.

EDC members serve 2-year terms and their applications are voted on by EDC and recommendations given to City Council for appointment in September.

The EDC meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the board room at 111 W. Third Street, Sweeny.

The Executive Director of the EDC is Michelle Medina.
