Golf Cart Registration

PERMIT PROCESS

Download, complete, and submit this Registration Form (PDF) and this Rules & Regulations packet (PDF) with the registration fee of $50.00 in person or by mail to the Sweeny Police Department.  These are instructions (PDF) to assist you in this process.  All checks should be made payable to the City of Sweeny.  A copy of your insurance and valid Texas driver license should be sent along with the registration form and Rules & Regulations packet.  Applicants must attest to the fact they are in compliance with the ordinance prior to submitting the application and associated fee.  The golf cart must be inspected at the police department (see section below for details). 
The permit decal will be issued in person or return mail after successful completion of the registration and inspection process.

INSPECTION PROCESS

The golf cart must be inspected by an official at the Sweeny Police Department before the permit is issued.  CAUTION: Golf carts are not allowed to be operated on the roadways for the purpose of driving to the police department for this inspection process — the golf cart must be transported for the inspection process.  We will not inspect nor issue a permit if the golf cart is driven on the roadway prior to the permit being issued.

ORDINANCE

City council passed the Golf Cart Ordinance on February 18, 2020.  The registration and permit process will begin at the police department on March 16, 2020.
