Trash & Recycling
The City of Sweeny contracts with Waste Connections of Texas for garbage/waste management collection services. Waste Connections of Texas is the third-largest provider of solid waste management services in the United States.

COLLECTION SCHEDULE
- RESIDENTIAL TRASH — every Monday (blue cart)
- HEAVY TRASH & BRUSH — every Saturday
- RECYCLING — every other week on Thursday (green cart)
RECYCLING
Recycling services are available in the City of Sweeny at no cost and are provided by Waste Connections of Texas. Each resident of the City has been provided a GREEN CART for recyclables only (regular trash should be placed in the BLUE CART). Simply fill your recycle cart with the approved recyclable material and place it by the curb for service.
GREEN CARTS are collected EVERY OTHER THURSDAY. Please be sure that your cart is curbside by 7am on the collection days to ensure timely and reliable service.
Recycling is available for the following household items only. Commercial and construction waste is not accepted. NOTE: Glass is NOT being accepted at this time.

- Cans
- Plastic
- Paper
- Newspaper
- Cardboard
VIOLATION
Per City Ordinance No. 51.02, carts and trash cans MUST BE removed from the curb within 24 hours after scheduled garbage pickup. A violation of this ordinance will result in a citation being issued.
